As you look through your Boomerangs and take-home folders, and peruse the email notices from the Office, and perhaps email notes from your Teachers, you will see that we have truly entered the spirit of giving. The Big Kahuna & Walkathon are complete, and collectively, they brought in over 21k for our school. This is a wonderful thing! Helping out the Drop-Off & Pick Up flow: As the holiday season approaches, traffic seems to get worse on the roads. The Drop-Off and Pick-Up areas at Brookside are not immune to the increased level of traffic. The Brookside PTA supports Kevin Rodgers and his Patrol Squad and wanted to share some thoughts on how you can help make the drop-off and pick-up process run more smoothly and safer for all Brookside students and their parents. 1.) Green School Program Needs your Help!
Our Green School Program Chair, Missy Liu, is looking for a Co-Chair to help keep the Green Team going at Brookside. This person would help make sure students are reducing their waste in the cafeteria, work with the student Green Team to train them on what gets recycled and what is garbage, help implement composting to our cafeteria this year, promote composting and recycling at all PTA events, etc. This position is minimal work with the need to be at the school during lunch here and there. We added a new class to our Fall Enrichment line-up! Zumba For Kids! Tuesdays 3:30-4:30 PM (meets in gym) 8-week session 10/17-12/12  (no class 10/31) Fall Session: $120 Open to K-6th graders Zumba Kids classes feature kid-friendly routines based on original Zumba choreography. We break down the steps, add games, activities and cultural exploration elements into the class structure. Zumba kids helps to develop a healthy lifestyle and incorporate fitness as a natural part of children’s lives by making fitness fun! Room Parent Program
Volunteers are needed for the Room Parent Program for grades 3-6.  Volunteers will work with teachers to support volunteering in the classroom, as well as communicate school and PTA efforts to parents throughout the year.  Room parents don't necessarily have to do the in-classroom volunteering themselves, but will help the teacher get volunteers for things like classroom parties, auction projects, and the sock-hop baskets.  We'll have a handful of Room Parent meetings throughout the year, before school, to collaborate and share ideas as we build this new program.  Room parents will also receive PTA emails with information and ideas that ... read full article
